Corvette’s are fiberglass, so magnetic decals won’t work. It looks like I’m limited to static cling vinyls. The first kind goes on the outside of the car, but I’m concerned they will blow off on faster tracks. The other option is to get window-mounted decals, but there’s a problem: I don’t have any available windows!
The driver and passenger windows must be rolled down to give the pass signal, and there are no mini side windows behind the door like in most coupes. I guess I could get tiny decals and wedge them in the upright edges of the rear canopy, but it’s very tinted, so I don’t know how visible it will be.
Why couldn’t GM just put a thin metal plate inside the door so magnetic numbers could stick? I’m convinced this is why GM gave the C7 that extra little mini window that’s only big enough for some 3" racing numbers!

You could install the thin metal plate you mention

Wax the car and put on some normal, vinyl sticker numbers on the door in a size that is actually easy to read while at speed. 8" height with a 2" stroke is standard.
Nothing horrible is going to happen having them on the paint for 48 hours.

Blue or green painters tape. Everyone uses it.

Vinyl stickers. They worked great for me.

Wax the paint and use a plasti-dip stencil?

I believe your concerns of a reusable vinyl stick blowing off are over blown.

Depends. He asked about autocross numbers, but then mentions having the windows down to point, which sounds like he’s actually doing a track day. I know people who have had numbers blow off at track days before due to the higher speeds.

Beat me to it.

I do both types of events. Autocross probably wouldn’t cause them to blow off, but 140mph at Pocono is a different story!

Just go all in. Vettes look great with numbers.
Boom. Instant racecar.

If they don’t blow off of a Viper, no way are they going to blow off a Vette.

I know, just confirming your suspicions!

Spray paint. Or scratch the numbers in with your keys.

Get the non-magnetic one and put it on the doors. It’s not reusable, but you could get reusable numbers. Then you’ll have cool race car white circles on your doors. Plus, they will come off when you don’t want them anymore.
Also, you could just use blue painters tape and you'd be perfectly fine.

Yeah I make them for friends/family during christmas. They are about 7 1/2 - 8 feet tall depending on the characters they want.

Good enough for me! I have magnetic numbers for my other cars, but not the corvette.

Well, it’s your fault for buying a car that wasn’t magnetic....

For autocrossing, I print my numbers on an 8.5" by 11.5" sheet of paper and use blue painters tape to tape the edges on. For me it’s easier to just have to 4 straight sides than it it to try to make numbers with the tape. I don’t know if it would stand up to your higher speeds though.
